St. Peter’s Square with an Egyptian obelisk in the center of the square is located in front of the basilica St. Peter.
The St. Peters Square was designed and completed by the Baroque master, Bernini, between 1656-1667 under the direction of Pope Alexander VII. On the left and right side of theobelisk are granite fountains constructed by Bernini and by Carlo Maderno.
The great Square greets a lot of pilgrim and visitor all year round.
The atrium of the St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City is considered one of the most remarkable works of Carlo Maderno and was built between 1608 and 1612.
The interiors, characterized by huge mosaics, are sites of some of the most famous art works from all over the world, for example, Bernini’s baldachin and Michelangelo’s Pietà.
On Sundays, Pope Francis prays together with many faithful the Angelus prayer in Rome on St. Peters Square. It is broadcast by radio, television and internet worldwide. Everyone can join the prayer of the Holy Father.
The Colosseum or Coliseum was the largest amphitheater in the roman world. It is one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions and is located just east of the Roman Forum in the centre of the city of Rome Italy.
The Roman Colosseum was build for gladiatorial combats and other forms of entertainment for the public.
